The dial plate has been cleaned and polished in the not so distant past and the weight is a later replacement. The only Peter Miller of London recorded is listed as working from 1681 to 1733, however, it is my considered opinion that this clock is not of that period. Judging from its overall appearance including the cut of the wheelwork, the colour and patination of the brass, the fact it is original anchor and not converted from verge which one would expect were it ealy 18th century and the fact it is chain driven not rope, a much better option as rope tends to leave a dusty residue within the movement. It is my opinion that these facts place the clock firmly into the 20th century, a typical good quality throwback of which I have seen many over the years. Nevertheless it is a very fine quality, fully functioning example of an English lantern clock and valuable. Being at least 60+ years old.
