Vintage Brass Lantern Pierced Moroccan Hanging Lamp Candle Holder Antique Lamp

This is for a large Antique Large Moroccan Traditional pierced solid brass hanging lantern. The decorative brass is aged and has original patina and was slightly cleaned to remove dust.

The shape is reminiscent of a tear drop and can be hung by the top ring or chain added to lengthen it. There is a hole on the top near the ring, where I believe an electric cord once was threaded thru. I have had others of these styled lamps and this is the largest one I have found! This is for a single shaped - hanging candle / tea light / push on light holder.

Items like these are usually from Turkey, Persia, Morocco, but they are also referred to as Oajar, Islamic, and Mosque lamps. What is clear is they are Middle Eastern metalwork. This beautiful piece would have been hand crafted in the late 1890's to early 1900's.

This one measures 27 inches tall with a circle at top to attach chain, and a diameter of approx. It has a pulley system that allows the top piece to open up away from the bottom piece to place the candle or light in the base. When a light is added you get wonderful shadows on a wall if close, candles also can work for this, or new push on lights in colors. Please see picture where I show one used! The lights or candles are very easy to get in and out of the piece.

These types of lanterns have delicate hand cut filigree in shapes, flowers or scrolls to give the item an intricate pattern. They are crafted from solid brass and have aged and darkened over time. Please note all the pictures to see the wonderful condition of this item!

They are ready to hang and use to display and add a bit of shabby chic history to where displayed! All items are vintage and if more then normal age appropriate use / condition issues - then it will shown in the listing / pictures. I may or may not know details but do spend time researching information to provide details the best I can and to pass along fair prices. I take all my own pictures in my home and as such try and get all the colors as true to correct as possible. Assume items are preloved and or vintage and such can have its own idiosyncrasies due to age alone and normal wear and tear. Remember vintage items have been used and will have small issues like surface scratches and age appropriate wear.
