Very rare Antique Portable Telescopic Candle Lantern (medical or railroad)

Extremely rare Antique Portable Telescopic Candle Lantern (medical or railroad). See pictures for condition details. In very good condition for the age, no damage visible. Not cleaned or polished in any way. This one is one of a kind.

So far my research shows that it is most likely end of 18th century or beginning of 19th century. No maker marks or any other marks on it (at least I couldn't find any). Also not sure what material it is made of, there are no references of any kind. It is possibly custom made. Lantern is 150mm tall and can be used in two positions.

If can be used with base extended or with based closed hanged on some hardware (rod or a door perhaps). There is also small compartment on the bottom, maybe for matches or other accessories. The middle door is spring loaded. Overall it is very well built and sturdy. Again not too much info is available for this item so your welcome to do your own research.
