You can do your own research. I'm here to sell a great lantern. The lantern now features a flat side Coleman globe with.
Green stamped sunshine logo over Coleman on the front with PYREX over MADE IN U. So the globe that comes with this lantern may or may not be the right one, but it was made for the correct year this lantern was made (July, 1944).
Now that it has a rare and collectable globe, the price has increased to reflect that. I hope this answers most questions, but I ask that you DO NOT write me to discuss the correctness of this lantern as I'm here to sell a lantern, not create a forum. This lantern comes from my Coleman collection of many years. It's the acclaimed 237B, manufactured in July of 1944 and made in the USA based on the ICCC website. Their information states that Coleman USA manufactured the 237B kerosene lanterns from 1943 to 1944 making them rare enough in any condition. What I find puzzling is... Why did Coleman USA make a fount out of brass during WWII, when brass was in such demand for the war?
I do know you can find 237B founts made out of steel and brass. It also has the correct screw-in valve knob. To be honest, I think the history on this lantern is fascinating! Coleman's model 237 lanterns are at the top of their league when it comes to the largest, brightest and best built lanterns. Theyre rated at 500+ candlepower and equivalent in output to 400W of incandescent lighting. The original paint on the fount is in good condition, with a minor ding and slight patina, but does include its alcohol generator preheat cup. This IS NOT a parts lantern nor has the ventilator been re-porcelained. It's a used lantern and works beautiful as I have lit it many times. So, its not a museum piece, but it shows nicely.
