RARE Antique Maritime French Lantern Barbier & Fenestre Paris Inc. Copper

This lantern is obviously incomplete, missing the glass and other metal parts, and is a bit'banged up', which is why it is listed for parts, restoration or as a salvage display piece. The lantern nameplate is marked Barbier & Fenestre Paris.

There are other words on the plate but look to be French words. See the video and photos for close-ups of the plate as it is worn and bits are missing along its edges.

According to online information Barbier & Fenestre was a renowned French engineering and manufacturing company, globally celebrated for producing Fresnel Lenses and lighthouse equipment. Founded in 1862 the firm dominated the construction of maritime beacons and optical systems in the 19th century. Online information also said that the company existed as Barbier & Fenestre from 1862 to 1891 and was renamed as Barbier et Benard following the death of Stanislas Fenestre. I looked for other examples of Barbier & Fenestre items and did not see much of anything, making me again ASSUME that this is a somewhat rare example of a work by this company that exists now.

Again, you experts should know if it has copper parts or not. Clearly its condition is not the best, but it is what it is. Still, the ring will be included. The lantern is just over 17" tall to the top of the ring, and the diameter of the base is just over 5 1/2".
