Rare Antique English Copper Masthead Ship Lantern c1900-1925 Nautical Light

This comes from a collection assembled by my late father, a physician who collected authentic aviation, nautical, and unique historical pieces. Offered here is an authentic early 20th century English copper masthead navigation lantern. This example is clearly embossed "MASTHEAD" across the chimney section and is stamped "MADE IN ENGLAND" underneath. It is constructed of heavy gauge copper with thick colored glass panels and a proper hinged access door with original latch hardware.

Solid copper construction with excellent aged patina. Thick red, clear, and green/blue glass lenses. Original hinged door with working latch. Ventilation holes beneath the base.

Internal mounting posts for burner assembly. 5.5-6 inches across the base. The copper shows natural oxidation and verdigris consistent with age, which adds to its authenticity and character.

The hinge and latch operate as they should. No modern electrical conversions - this remains a traditional oil-burning configuration. Based on construction and markings, this lantern dates to approximately. This is a true maritime collector's piece - not a modern decorative reproduction - and would display beautifully in a nautical collection, maritime office, yacht club, or coastal home.
