Rare 1944 Coleman 237B Kerosene Single Mantle Lantern with Painted Brass Fount. This lantern comes from my Coleman collection of many years. It's the acclaimed 237B, manufactured in July of 1944. I believe it was made in the USA based on the ICCC website (but it could also have been manufactured in Canada). Their information states that Coleman USA manufactured the 237B kerosene lanterns from 1943 to 1944 making them rare enough, but this painted BRASS FOUNT with a single mantle and bulging globe even rarer.
Coleman's model 237 lanterns are at the top of their league when it comes to the largest, brightest and best built lanterns. Theyre rated at 500+ candlepower and equivalent in output to 400W of incandescent lighting. The original paint on the fount is in good condition, with a minor ding and slight patina, but does include its alcohol generator preheat cup. This IS NOT a parts lantern nor has the ventilator been re-porcelained. It's a used lantern and works beautiful as I have lit it many times. The globe is not original as they're even harder to find. So, its not a museum piece, but it shows nicely. The item "Rare 1944 Coleman 237B Kerosene Single Mantle Lantern with Painted Brass Fount" is in sale since Tuesday, February 4, 2020.
