This is a nice condition but certainly not perfect Coleman 228H Gold Bond lantern made in Wichita, KS in February 1974. It comes in its original (undated) clam shell case with original instructions, an excellent Coleman filtering funnel (perfect felt filter), and a fresh pack of vintage mantles.
It also sports a damage free arched red label Coleman/Pyrex globe. The frame is vastly cleaner than most of those found on this model and there is no rust on the filler cap threads. It pumps up perfectly with good air flow through the generator when the valve is opened. On the downside, there is an area at the ball nut hole where the finish is chipped away.
As well, a past owner wrote his name on the fount with a permanent marker and an attempt to remove it left two smaller areas where the paint is largely missing. Still an all original rare piece that is most difficult to find. This lantern will be insured at its final sale price.
