Antique SEAHORSE Blackout SIGNAL LANTERN Military NAUTICAL Ship WWII British VTG

Very rare "SEAHORSE" blackout signal lantern. Made by George Bocock Ltd. Of Birmingham, England; early 20th century. No other similar blackout models could be found. Likely originally intended for military or wartime use -- probably WWII. Whether for railroad or nautical use, this lamp has a painted-flat-black metal body with heavy brass and copper fittings, as well as spring-loaded thumb-activated trigger for interior signal baffles. Genuine Fresnel glass lens and brass Starhinge kerosene oil burner with original cloth wick. Glass chimney missing (but should be easy to replace). Brass Seahorse GB Trade Mark plate is numbered 39291. Approximately 15 inches tall (excluding top handle), and 7.4 inches in diameter; weighs a little less than 6 pounds. Overall very good condition; some paint-loss and scratches; minimal rust.

Action on signal baffles is good; occasionally sticky, so would benefit with lubrication.
