Antique Handmade Tin Smith Double Oil Wick Street Lamp Lantern Lighter Torch

The Photos are the Description and Condition. We are offering for sale a rare antique handmade Victorian. Street lamp lighters dual wick oil/kerosene torch. The torch was attached to a long pole and swiveled to keep it upright. A person known as "The Lamplighter" or "The Gaslighter" would go around town at dusk hand lighting the street lamps and at dawn turn them off.

In the Victorian era the Lamplighters were trustworthy and played a highly essential role illuminating the growing village/town streets. Best known is the Scots character "Leerie" from the poem "The Gaslighter" by Robert Louis Stevenson (1850 -1894).

CONDITION:: Overall good used vintage/antique condition. Shows some appropriate use wear, tarnishing and age. See photos for condition and details. We try to respond to questions within 24 hours.
