Antique Brass Skater's Lantern Kerosene Oil Lamp Hurricane Globe 19th Century
Antique brass skater's lantern, circa 1880. A complete and fully intact example in excellent antique condition. The standout feature is the original period glass globe - hand-finished, free-blown, with the wavy surface texture, minor seed bubbles, and organic variation in the glass wall that you only find in 19th century American production. This is not a replacement globe. It fits and seats correctly, shows no chips, no cracks, and no repairs. The interior carries a faint historic kerosene scent confirming period use. The brass body retains strong original finish with age-appropriate patina. Perforated brass burner gallery intact. Threaded wick raiser with original thumbwheel knob present and functional. Swing-up wire finger handle present. Stepped brass base shows minor surface rust and light denting consistent with age and honest use - photographed and disclosed. No maker's mark located.
Dimensions: 7 inch tall with globe seated, 3.25 inches base diameter. A displayable, wall-worthy piece of American lighting history.
