The lantern is original and was fitted with a socket for electrical illumination as most lanterns were in that era. The light had a new socket installed as the one that was in it was no longer useable due to age.
The light works great and ready for immediate installation. There is some chipping in the thick glass globe where something had apparently made contact with it at some point (pictured), the glass is extremely thick and the chips are strictly superficial. There is a bit of a ding in the tin by the makers brass emblem plate and some usual patina scattered throughout, primarily on the metal securing loops and the vertical globe protection bars. The ceiling cap has some scrapes and ware also and some old ceiling paint toward the top edges. Overall the light is a beautiful surviving piece of history and looks wonderful even with the expected imperfections of a light easily over 100 years old.
