ANCHOR A1931 Authentic Antique Mariner Lantern WORKS! I'm still trying to get over having acquired this lantern. I'm told that within the past ten years, the previous owner put kerosene in it and had it working during a backyard picnic.
I don't have enough nerve or skill to see if it still works, but I do not doubt that it does. This item is one of those "They Don't Make'Em Like This Anymore" things. It weighs fully 20 pounds. Yeah, I'll bet it works.
Here's what the internet said about it, when searched. Primarily crafted from solid copper with heavy brass accents (such as the latches, structural ribs, and nameplates).
It features a thick, clear Fresnel (pronounced Fer-nell) glass lens designed to concentrate and project the internal light source over long distances at sea. The face includes prominent brass plates stamped with "ANCHOR" and a serial or identification number below it (A 1931). Originally oil-burning, these heavy-duty lanterns are highly prized today as nautical collectibles, rustic decor, or converted electric accent lamps. If you have any kind of yacht, or houseboat, or beach house, you might want to consider adding this to the decor. I cannot find another like it for sale on the internet. It's 10 inches diameter at the base and is 19 inches tall. Please look at all the photos and read everything I've written about the condition and description of this item. I don't use AI and write all my listings myself with the item right in front me.
I do my very best to list accurately. It'll come to you from a smoke-free, pet-free house.
