Vintage 1952 Coleman 200A Black Band Single-Mantle Gas Lantern Dated 8/52
Vintage 1952 Coleman 200A Black Band Single-Mantle Gas Lantern Dated 8/52. This lantern comes from my Coleman collection of many years. It's a 200A, manufactured in August of 1952 and known as the Black Band lantern. Made Black Band lanterns from February 1952 to April 1953. Research information from the Coleman Collectors Forum by Dan B. Bands are prevalent from 2/52 to 4/53. They have a steel base rest painted. Along with the burner frame. The burner frame is still the short ear version as found in the Christmas lanterns but the later versions deleted the perforations in the base plate.

The burner frame is painted except for the air tube. They have a red decal with a yellow border located at the bottom rim of the fount. The fount has a large stamping on the opposite side. The vents are the same as the Christmas lanterns with the small holes and the speckled finish. Bands stopped in 5/53 in which the burner frame and base rest (still steel) have a matte clear anti-corrosive finish.

The fount is the same as the. Bands with the fount stamp and decal. The original paint on the fount is in good condition, with a few chips and slight patina, but does come with a "high hat" vent and a bulge globe with a green Coleman logo without PIREX. It may not be the original globe, but it's defiantly a rare and valuable globe. It's a used lantern and works beautiful as I have lit it many times.

So, its not a museum piece, but it shows nicely. The item "Vintage 1952 Coleman 200A Black Band Single-Mantle Gas Lantern Dated 8/52" is in sale since Thursday, February 6, 2020.
